SAKE+BAR -vol.1- <Guerrilla Sake Bar>

SAKE+ opened guerrilla sake bar, called “SAKE+BAR” at Shinjuku Golden Gai, mainly for tourist around area.The taste of Sake varies by region (Prefecture). We have prepared three totally different tastes of sake from 3 different prefectures with background stories to enjoy the differences!

1) Koshi no Kagetora (越乃景虎)
・Brewery name :Morohashi brewery
・Taste type：Dry , Light
・Niigata residents consume Sake the most within Japan.
・Niigata is famous for conditions of rice, water, and climate.
・Morohashi Brewery has started up making sake in 1847 at Tochio City.
・”Koshi no” means Niigata. “Kagetora” is the childhood name of Kenshin Uesugi. Kenshin Uesugi is famous person in Japanese history, who lived in Tochio city. So, the sake name is “Koshi no kagetora”.
2) Tamano Hikari (玉乃光)
・Brewery name：Tamano Hikari brewery
・Taste type：Sweet, Soft
・Kyoto started to produce sake from more than 1,000 years ago.
・The quality of water in Kyoto is soft. Sake produced at Kyoto is called Women sake.
・Tamano Hikari is the biggest handcraft brewery.
3) Take Tsuru (竹鶴)
・Brewery name：Taketsuru brewery
・Taste type：Complex, heavy, Umami
・The quality of Water in Hiroshima is softest in Japan. This water isn’t suitable for producing sake, but Senzaburo Miura invented the making process by the water in 1887.
・Take turu brewery is the house of Masataka Taketsuru, who is famous by having started up Nikka Whisky which is the first whisky produced in Japan.
